Our verdict

The Daily Moisturizing Lotion is the lighter sibling of CeraVe's famous Moisturizing Cream, and for a lot of people it is the more sensible buy. It carries the same core science — the three-ceramide complex (1, 3 and 6-II) with cholesterol and phytosphingosine, in the ratio the skin barrier actually uses — plus glycerin and hyaluronic acid for water-binding, but in a fluid, fast-absorbing base rather than a rich occlusive one. Crucially, it drops the petrolatum found in the cream, which is what makes it wearable on the face in the morning, under sunscreen and makeup, and comfortable on the whole body without feeling greasy. It is fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive and eczema-prone skin. The trade-offs are predictable: very dry, cracked or winter-compromised skin will find it not sealing enough and should reach for the cream instead, and like everything in the CeraVe core range it offers nothing for pigmentation, texture or aging — it is barrier maintenance, full stop. As an everyday, all-body, all-skin-type workhorse, it is excellent value.
