Our verdict
CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion is one of the best value-for-money nighttime moisturizers on the drugstore shelf, and it quietly does more than its plain packaging suggests. It pairs CeraVe's signature ceramide-cholesterol complex (ceramides NP, AP and EOP with phytosphingosine) for barrier repair with a meaningful dose of niacinamide sitting high in the ingredient list — an active that supports the barrier, calms redness and helps regulate the look of oil and pores. Despite the richness of that lipid content, the base is genuinely lightweight and oil-free, using dimethicone for a soft, non-greasy finish, which is why it suits combination and even oilier skin as well as normal-to-dry. There is no fragrance, which keeps it friendly to sensitive skin. The honest caveats are minor: the ceteareth-20 emulsifier system carries a mild irritation flag for very reactive skin, and while the 'PM' name implies a night product, there is nothing here that makes it night-specific — it simply has no SPF, so it cannot double as your daytime sun protection. As an affordable, barrier-supporting daily moisturizer with a real niacinamide payload, it is hard to beat.
