Ethylhexylglycerin
One of the most common modern preservatives and moisturizers at the same time. Ethylhexylglycerin suppresses bacterial growth, reduces body odor, and moisturizes the skin — which is why it is present in almost every modern product.
What is it?
Ethylhexylglycerin is an ester of glycerin and 2-ethylhexanol. It serves two roles: preservative-booster (synergistically enhances the action of phenoxyethanol and other preservatives, allowing for a reduction in their concentration) and skin moisturizer-conditioner. It also inhibits bacteria that cause body odor. INCI: Ethylhexylglycerin.
A basic component of preservation systems in creams, lotions, and body products. It is almost always present alongside phenoxyethanol as a "preservative pair." Also found in deodorants.
