Cicaplast Baume B5 is La Roche-Posay's cult multi-purpose repair balm, and it earns the loyalty by being an excellent barrier occlusive with a couple of genuinely useful soothing actives. The base is a rich, protective seal — shea butter, dimethicone and hydrogenated polyisobutene — that locks moisture over damaged, dry or irritated skin, while glycerin and 5% panthenol (provitamin B5) draw in water and calm. The standouts are madecassoside, a centella asiatica derivative with real soothing and repair-supporting evidence, and a trio of zinc, manganese and copper gluconates that add a mild antimicrobial, wound-friendly angle. It is the product to reach for on chapped lips, cracked hands, over-exfoliated patches, post-procedure skin, retinoid irritation or eczema flares. Two honest caveats keep it from being a face-cream-for-everyone: it is deliberately occlusive and heavy, so on normal or oily facial skin used all over it can feel greasy and potentially clog, and it contains chlorhexidine, a preservative-antiseptic that a small number of people react to. As a targeted rescue balm, though, it is close to a reference product.

What is Cicaplast Baume B5 used for?
It is a multi-purpose repair balm for dry, damaged or irritated skin: chapped lips and hands, over-exfoliation, retinoid or acid irritation, post-procedure skin, and eczema-prone patches. It seals and protects the barrier while panthenol and madecassoside soothe and support recovery.
Can I use it as a daily face moisturizer?
