Titanium Dioxide
The most common mineral sunscreen filter and white pigment — Titanium Dioxide protects against UVA and UVB without chemical reactions, immediately after application. Safe, even for children and pregnant women.
What is it?
Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) — a mineral pigment and UV filter. In sunscreens — a physical (mineral) filter: reflects and scatters UVA and UVB rays. Nano vs Non-nano form: nanoparticles — less visible whiteness, but safety concerns. Non-nano — larger, but visible whiteness. In INCI: Titanium Dioxide or CI 77891.
Mineral SPF-active in children's sunscreens, SPF creams for sensitive skin, and physical sunscreens. Also a white pigment in decorative cosmetics.

Main Actions
Uncoated Titanium Dioxide leaves a noticeable white shade — especially on darker skin tones. Nano forms are less visible, but there are concerns about penetration through the skin. Products with 'tinted' or 'transparent' TiO₂ — treated to minimize whiteness.
