Pentylene Glycol
Modern multifunctional diol — pentylene glycol simultaneously moisturizes the skin, acts as a mild preservative, and improves the product's feel. Especially popular in Korean and clean beauty cosmetics as a safe alternative to traditional preservatives.
What is it?
Pentylene glycol (1,2-pentanediol) — synthetic or derived from plant sources five-carbon diol. In INCI: Pentylene Glycol. Structurally similar to butylene glycol, but with a longer carbon chain — hence better antimicrobial activity. Combines the functions of humectant, solvent, and preservative booster in one molecule.
Multifunctional component in toners, essences, serums, and creams. Acts as a moisturizer, enhances the penetration of actives, and protects the formula from microorganisms — especially effective against fungi and yeasts. A standard in K-beauty and European clean beauty formulas.
