What is it?

Willow Bark Extract — extract of Salix Alba or Salix Nigra bark. Contains salicin and salicylates, which oxidize to form salicylic acid. The action is gentler and more gradual than synthetic 2% BHA — ideal for sensitive skin. In INCI: Salix Alba Bark Extract or Salix Nigra Bark Extract.

Used in toners and essences for acne-prone skin, pore cleansing products, antibacterial masks. An effective natural exfoliation for those who cannot tolerate synthetic salicylic acid.

Key Benefits

Gentle pore cleansing (natural BHA)
Salicin in willow bark converts to salicylic acid, penetrates pores, and dissolves sebum and dead cells.
Antibacterial and anti-acne action
Natural salicylates are active against P. acnes and reduce inflammation associated with acne.
Gentler than synthetic BHA
Due to the gradual release of salicylates, willow bark is less irritating to the skin than synthetic salicylic acid at the same concentration.
