What is it?

Retinol — a first-generation form of vitamin A. Various forms of retinoids are found in cosmetics: retinol, retinal (retinaldehyde), retinyl palmitate, hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR, granactive retinoid) — of varying strength and tolerance.

Primarily used in evening care — serums and creams. Start with low concentrations (0.025–0.1%), gradually increasing. Daytime SPF is essential.

When caution is needed

Retinol can cause peeling and irritation at the beginning — especially in sensitive skin. Not recommended during pregnancy. Always requires SPF during the day. Do not combine with acids without adaptation.
