Propylene Glycol
One of the oldest and most proven moisturizers in cosmetics — propylene glycol moisturizes the skin, enhances the action of preservatives, and improves the penetration of active components. Despite controversies, it is recognized as safe in regulated concentrations.
What is it?
Propylene Glycol (1,2-propanediol) — synthetic glycol. One of the oldest cosmetic humectants (since the 1930s). Functions: moisturizer (hygroscopic), solvent (dissolves actives, fragrances), penetrator (increases the penetration of other components), preservative booster. In INCI: Propylene Glycol.
Multifunctional base component in creams, lotions, toners, and peels. Also popular as a solvent for AHA and BHA in peeling products.
