What is it?

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8 (INCI: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8) — palmitoylated tripeptide (C16-Lys-Val-Lys or analog). MW: ~600 Da. Mechanism: antagonism of PAR-2 (protease-activated receptor 2) — a receptor activated by proteases during inflammation and irritation; inhibition of substance P and CGRP release (neuropeptides of pain and inflammation) → reduction of neurogenic inflammation. Result: decreased skin sensitivity to irritants, reduced redness. Palmitoyl group: increases lipophilicity and permeability through SC.
