What is it?

Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil (INCI: Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil) — refined or Virgin oil. Fatty acid profile: linoleic (C18:2 ω-6) ~70%, oleic (C18:1) ~16%, palmitic (C16:0) ~7%. Unique: the highest content of linoleic acid among common cosmetic oils. Important: linoleic acid is a structural component of ceramides and a protective ω-6 fatty acid of sebum. Additionally: proanthocyanidins (OPC) — powerful antioxidants. Non-comedogenic rating: 1 (lower = better for acne-prone skin). Light texture: absorbs quickly.

Products for oily and combination skin, light moisturizing oils, antioxidant formulas, base for serums with dry oils, post-acne care.

Key Benefits

Barrier restoration through linoleic acid
Sebum in people with acne and oily skin is typically deficient in linoleic acid → more comedogenic, sticky. Linoleic acid (68–76% in grape seed oil) replenishes this deficiency: it is incorporated into the structure of ceramides and phospholipids of cell membranes → improvement of the lipid barrier. Clinically: one month of using linoleic acid-enriched oils → reduction of microcomedones and improvement of the barrier.
Non-comedogenic light oil — for oily skin
Grape seed oil is one of the lightest cosmetic oils: absorbs quickly, does not leave a greasy shine, does not clog pores (non-comedogenic rating: 1/5). Ideal for the "balanced oil" approach for oily skin: applying unsaturated oil regulates the skin's own sebum production through the endocannabinoid mechanism. Dry oil-feel: compared to coconut oil or olive oil — much lighter.
Antioxidant protection — OPC from grape seeds
Grape seed oil contains proanthocyanidins (OPC, Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) — some of the most powerful antioxidants in the plant world. OPC neutralize ROS, protect collagen from degradation, and inhibit the enzyme elastase. Additionally: vitamin E (tocopherol) in natural forms. Synergy: together OPC + tocopherol + linoleic acid = comprehensive antioxidant and barrier protection.

Refined vs unrefined grape seed oil

Unrefined (Virgin/Cold-pressed): greenish color, herbal scent, more OPC and vitamins, less stable. Refined: colorless/yellowish, odorless, more stable, but fewer polyphenols. For cosmetics: both are effective, but unrefined is more "active." Stability: linoleic acid is prone to oxidation → dark packaging, cold storage, no oxidation. Shelf life: 6–12 months after opening. INCI: 'Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil'.
