Acetyl Hexapeptide-3

"Botox in a jar" — acetyl hexapeptide-3 (Argireline) blocks neuromuscular signals at the molecular level and relaxes the muscles of facial wrinkles. One of the most clinically studied cosmetic peptides with documented anti-wrinkle effect.

What is it?

Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) — a synthetic hexapeptide, trade name Argireline® (Lipotec). In INCI: Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 or Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. A fragment of the SNAP-25 protein — competes with natural SNAP-25 for binding sites in the SNARE complex, reducing the release of acetylcholine at neuromuscular synapses. Similar mechanism to botulinum toxin, but without toxicity.

Anti-aging neuropeptide in serums and creams for the area around the eyes, forehead, and nasolabial folds. Most effective for wrinkles from facial movements — "crow's feet," laugh lines, and frowning.

Key Benefits

Relaxation of facial muscles
Competitively blocks the SNARE complex → reduces the release of acetylcholine → partial relaxation of facial muscles. Clinical studies show a 30% reduction in wrinkle depth after 28 days at a 10% concentration.
Reduction of the depth of existing wrinkles
The effect accumulates over time — with regular use 2× a day, wrinkles from facial movements gradually become less deep and noticeable. Particularly pronounced effect in the eye area and forehead.
Prevention of new wrinkles
Reducing the intensity of facial contractions slows down the formation of new wrinkles — preventive action when used from 28–35 years until the appearance of pronounced wrinkles.

Concentration matters

Clinical results obtained at concentrations of 5–10%. Most mass products contain 0.5–2% — the effect is present but noticeably weaker. Look for serums with acetyl hexapeptide in the first 5–7 positions of INCI for significant concentration.
